CURRICULUM, RESOURCES, & PROJECT BASED LEARNING

  • We have a robust and multi-layer system of supports for students for students needing additional services such as speech, occupational therapy, nursing, math, reading, and behavior support, english language learner, Special Education, and specialists.

  • We have 3 full time counselors, 1 full time social worker, and 1 fully licensed therapist serving in a counseling capacity for students, families, and staff. Counselors are highly skilled and focused on meeting the unique social and emotional needs that each student or family has. Additional information on our counseling program can be found HERE.

  • PCS adheres to all of Missouri Department of Education learning standards. We intentionally focus on project based learning experiences with a lot of hands activities and exercises that are driven by student driven inquiry based learning.

  • Project Based Learning is a teaching method in which students gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to an authentic, engaging, and complex question, problem, or challenge. Students develop deep content knowledge as well as critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication skills. Project Based Learning unleashes a contagious, creative energy among students and teachers.

  • Pathways are areas of high student interest that typically falls outside of traditional curriculum areas such as Math, English Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies.

    Students are empowered to choose pathways that are of most interest to them. Pathway classes vary from year to year but have included Performing Arts, Instrumental Music, Engineering, Computer Science, Art, Team Sports, Shop, etc.
